Learn and Play

This experience has shown me so many new words, as well as,forms of communication. These exercises have help me with terms so if customers ask me questions, I will have some knowledge. I especially liked flickr since it allowed me to be creative. I have learned how to explore, make posts etc. I have found more about blogging which can help in areas that I have personal interst.

I listen to books on cd's and find them to be great. This exercise helps me to be able to show customers other possibilities to listening or reading books. Oh!! the various types continues to be eye-opening.

This video about the cat and dog was delightful. The music that went along with the pictures worked well. I also looked at more videos: one on how to cook a turkey and another one on a baby rhino. It is neat how I'm finding out more on navigating the websites.The only thing that could be a dislike is that there can be lots of stuff out there that one does not always want to view. I'm sure the more I explore I will be better at knowing how to find things I like to see. I can think perhaps libraries could video storytimes for others to view if maybe there were themes, etc.

Oh what I have discovered by doing this exercise. I clicked on the arts category and saw so many interesting places to explore and learn from. I also clicked on music and then classical and was able to listen to classical music with my headphones. I am finding so many things on the computer that I have not been aware of so far. Learn and play has shown me so many things that I did not know how to find.

Oh how exciting to find lots of information that can help me in my many interests. I first looked at Color Explorer from the short list you gave us. I can see how this could really be something I could get ideas from about color. I hope to get back to this site when I have more time. On the same list under Retail I saw Etsy---which is a website I actually had gone to before when someone suggested me looking for art product. As I continued to look I saw WordCat and that site is wonderful to find books. I use this site for interlibrary loan ideas. I really learned lots of places Iwant to revisit.

Oh !!! we are realizing more and more ways to organize our thoughts.

The video showing how people plan an event illustrates the benefits of using wiki. Groups can work this way without having to call, gather or have meetings.

It is interesting to read about the different ways libraries change to meet demands.

Delicious

After reading about delicious, I thought the way teachers could find a new approach to teaching fractions could really be helpful. If I hear people talkng about "Delicious", I will be aware it is a communication device.

My 1st post

Going to the Learn and Play initiative I realized so many new ways to acquire skills and knowledge. The 7 1/2 habits of highly successful lifetime learners shows its never to late to learn. There are learning opportunities for all ages. I look forward to viewing problems as challenges. The easiest one is to accept responsibility for my own learning. The hardest one is to have confidence in myself to be a competent, effective learner.
